Coffee and Pastries in Milan

For a pastry lover like me, searching for some charming, homey bakeries, was pretty much one of the first things I did once I moved to Milan. I mean; a freshly brewed coffee and a yummy pastry in your hand ... what better than that could there be?

Once I moved to this city, I quickly realised that bakeries here were actually quite different from where I come from. (Actually far away from disappointing!) Milan probably offers some of the most delicious pastries I ever tried in my entire life...and I'm going to share with you the best addresses for trying these out.

Pasticceria Sissi

Pasticceria Sissi is a small and intimate place, with a lot of Italian flair. (Probably my personal favourite) About ten tables outside and a few inside is pretty much all there is to the whole seating space, really allowing you to enjoy your time there, without it getting too crowded around you. The laboratory right next to the patisserie bakes everything freshly all day long. If I had to recommend just one thing, it would be the brioche. If you want, you can have them freshly filled right on the counter in front of you. It would probably be an understatement to say that those are one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted.

Pasticceria Martesana

Pasticceria Martesana is a modern-looking bakery, with a very intimate vibe and relationship to its customers. This bakery creates a lot of different pastries, but also cakes and a wide variety of adorable little mini cakes, Crème Brulee, pistachio and many more amazing creations. Of course, you can also accompany any delicious sweet here with some coffee. Over the years Pasticceria Martesane has been winning lots of prizes, such as the "World Chocolate Master", the best "Milanese pastry" and three of their cakes are in the "Gambero Rosso".

Zaini Milano

As soon as you enter Zaini Milano "the seductive aroma of chocolate will lure you away from the city to a gourmet break". Zaini is the perfect time to take a little break from your daily city life. Have an excellent coffee and some sweet pastries at the coffee-shop, buy some delicacies (sweet and salty) for your home, which you can find in their antique shelves or buy some cute gifts to celebrate just any special occasion.
