Demna Gvasalia, a Georgian designer who founded his own brand Vetements in 2014, despite working with other amazing fashion houses like Maison Martin Margiela and Louis Vuitton, in his Paris apartment with his brother, Guram Gvasalia and now in the end of 2019 Demna Gvasalia has announced his departure from the brand. Demna Gvasalia is an amazingly creative persona and he has achieved so much success with his brand Vetements. He took “Poverty chic” to another level and in general his fashion and the pieces he made were limitless, bizarre and chaotic.

Demna Gvasalia built up this brand from the ground, all on his own, in his Paris apartment, with his crew, which consisted of family and friends. From the first release the brand has been a success. The reason of the brands success could be connected to meme culture and how the brand as a joke includes logos of McDonald’s, DHL and Interpol, and also the location of the shows can’t be not included, gay sex clubs and down market Chinese restaurants.

In his interview, after he left the brand he said that he had started this brand because he was bored and wanted a change in the fashion world, and he thinks he achieved that with Vetements and changed the fashion world forever with the appearance of this brand, he wanted to test the limits of the fashion world and he thinks he did this. Demna thinks the company has to evolve now on its on with out him. This means Vetements will still be releasing clothes with Guram Gvasalia still there. Demna has now decided to solely focus on Balenciaga, where he is the creative director.
